Info:
Across the country, women’s flat-track roller derby has taken cities by storm. In the spring of 2006, a group of local women founded the Rockford Rage in order to bring this exciting and increasingly popular sport to the Rockford area.

In just a few short months, the league has grown from a handful of skaters to more than 50. These athletes are unique women from all walks of life. Skaters range in age from 21 to 48 and have such varying careers as at-home mothers, paramedics, teachers, writers, marketing managers and nurses. But they all share the common goal of making the Rockford Rage an exciting and entertaining part of their community.

The Rage is completely skater-run and organized, with skaters volunteering their time, money and skills to further the league. Skaters are committed to multiple practices each week. They receive no monetary compensation for skating and pay monthly dues to help maintain the league. Off the rink, Rage skaters volunteer for local charities, make appearances at multiple community events and host various fundraisers.
