Scrimmage with the Unholy Rollers - March 2nd
The Rage had another opportunity to scrimmage the Unholy Rollers. This time it was on their turf as we headed to Fast Forward Skate Center in Madison on March 2nd.
It was a great experience for the Rage, who have shown remarkable improvement since last facing the Unholy Rollers in October at the Indoor Sports Center here in Rockford.
We scrimmaged, we drilled, we talked, we hung out...all in all, it was a great time!

Stateline Derby Divas - February
Another road trip! This time, it was off to Beloit to see the Stateline Derby Divas in their rematch against the Danger Dames of Kalamazoo, MI. It was an exciting bout, as well as the Divas' first home bout.
Following the bout, we went down to South Beloit for some derby revelry. More new friends were made, and a good time was had by all.

Madison Season Opener - January
About 20-25 Rage skaters -along with various friends and family- headed to Madison to watch the Mad Rollin' Dolls. We poured into the suicide seats among the SRO crowd at Fast Forward Skate Center and cheered as all four teams battled it out in their season opener.
Afterward, it was time for celebration at the after-bout party where we mingled, drank, ate, and made new derby friends.

Due to circumstances beyond the control of the Rockford Rage, our March 1st bout at ISC has officially been moved to March 8th. We've now renamed the bout "Season's Re-Beatings" in lieu of the unfortunate re-scheduling, but will still be honoring any tickets that were purchased for both the December 1st AND March 8th bouts.

Sorry for all of the confusion!

SEASON II HAS BEGUN (SORT OF)

All right all you roller derby fans out there, the Rockford Rage Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Season II has begun... sort of. We’ve been skating, hiting, sweating, bleeding, and preparing for the first installment of our second season since August of 2007. Unfortunately, mother nature did not feel we needed to begin just yet. Season’s Beatings was to take place on Saturday, December 1, 2007. This was the same date that the Rockford area was pelted with our first big winter storm. For the safely of our skaters, volunteers, refs, and our fans we had to cancel Season’s Beatings.

Have you ever wanted the holiday season to extend into March? Well even if you’re sick of the holidays before they're even over, that’s too bad. Season’s Beatings as been officially rescheduled for March 8th, 2008. For all of you who had purchase tickets they will be honored at the March 8th bout.

Can’t wait until March? The remaing bouts on our schedule will remain the same, so buy your tickets now! Remember, we may skate because we love the sport, but even more importantly we are donating a portion of the procedes to charity. In short, if we don’t have YOU, the charity suffers. So come and support the Rockford Rage and your local charities; we need butts in the bleachers people!

So, you’re dying to know what the Rage has been up to in the off season? We’ve certainly broadened our horizons.

Besides planning and preparing for our exciting second season, we’ve been pitting our league up against other amazing roller derby leagues from the midwest. It all began by scrimmaging the Unholy Rollers out of Madison, WI. What a schooling we received!! It was definatly worth the aches and pains to get some insight from skaters who have been skating since the sport began making its revival.

Our next big endevor was to travel to Ft. Wayne, Indiana to try our hand at the Ft. Wayne Fall Brawl Tournament. We were defeated, in the first round, by the Mitten Kittens out of Detroit, MI (who went on to win the tournament). In the second round we were victorious over the Flyin’ Squirrels from Ft. Wayne, Indiana. With our spirits rejuvinated, we went into our final bout of the tournament with hope. Sadly, we were overtaken by the Cinnicinatti Roller Girls. All in all, it was a great experience and we’ve become better skaters because of it. We will be continuing to travel and we’ll definitely be keeping you posted.

Hey there, everyone!
RockfordRage.com is back... and with a brand new look! Most of the areas of the website are currently under construction, but as soon as we get all of the data transferred over to the new layout we'll have everything up and running again; we promise.

In other news, thanks to recent WFTDA rule changes, individual derby leagues can now set their own age requirements. In light of this, the Rockford Rage has decided to lower its age requirement to 18 years old and out of high school (the previous age requirement was 21).

So, for all you kids (and by "kids" we mean 18 to 20-year-old females with sass) who were crying in your Kool-Aid that you weren't old enough to be a derby girl -- here's your chance.
You don't have to be a super skater, you just need the right (some would say "wrong") attitude and be willing to bust your ass (literally and figuratively) to continually make yourself and the league better.

For more info, contact the Rage via MySpace: www.myspace.com/rockfordrage
Or, better yet, stop by Skate Co.'s open skate from 6:30-8:30pm on Thursdays to meet us and get info in person.

The track is calling....

Thanks for stopping by!!
xoxo,
        - Rockford Rage
